A Look Behind the Scenes of an Intern – Jonas Claes
Hello everyone, my name is Jonas Claes, a 21-year-old coffee enthusiast and software aficionado from Belgium. I’m currently pursuing a degree in computer science and have been fascinated with the world of software development since the age of 8. In my free time, I enjoy tinkering with personal coding projects, playing video games, and exploring the great outdoors. Recently, I had the opportunity to intern at Resillion, a company with a warm and inviting culture. In this blog post, I’ll take you behind the scenes of my internship experience, from the challenging projects I worked on to the unforgettable moments with my colleagues. So, let’s get started!
The Operational Dashboard Project: Merging data into one powerful overview
During my internship I worked on the Operational Dashboard, an internal project that brought data from various sources, such as Jira, Azure DevOps, and SonarCloud, together. The goal was to create a comprehensive and user-friendly dashboard for different teams and management, allowing them to view project progress, code quality, and other essential statistics at a glance.
This project allowed me to learn a lot about data analysis, processing, and storage, as well as integrating various platforms and systems. Of course, not everything went smoothly – at one point, I accidentally deleted my dashboard data. Fortunately, we were able to laugh about it later, and it became a running gag within the team.
A work culture that embraces you: Resillion has a work culture that is both supportive and challenging
There’s an informal atmosphere, and everyone is approachable, making you feel at ease quickly. We held daily stand-up meetings where we shared our progress and, yes, even our less glorious moments. Outside of work hours, there were plenty of activities to strengthen the team spirit, such as foosball, pinball tournaments, and the legendary “Race to the Future” RC car race – I even picked up new hobbies from my colleagues.
Advice for future interns: Be open and eager to learn
If you’re considering an internship at Resillion. Be open and honest with the HR team and show initiative. Present your portfolio, share your personal projects and experiences, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. The most important thing is to show that you’re motivated and keen to learn. And remember, a little humour never hurts!
An internship filled with growth, fun, and unforgettable moments
My internship at Resillion has been an incredible opportunity to put my skills into practice, learn from experienced professionals, and be part of a close-knit team. Although there were moments when things didn’t go according to plan, such as my data-deletion mishap, these experiences only contributed to my personal and professional growth. For future interns, I can only say: prepare for an unforgettable experience and don’t forget to laugh at your own mistakes!
